Help with .PNG files
PNG - Portable Network Graphics format
Opening PNG files
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, the .png file should open in a browser window. Microsoft automatically resizes these large images to fit your screen. To enlarge the image to full size, click the "expand image" icon which appears at the lower-right of your screen.
If you are using Netscape 7.0, the .png file will open in your browser window full-size, and you will have to scroll.
If you are using Netscape 4.x, the .png file will automatically fit the size of your browser window, and there is no resize option. (see difficulties page for support for old versions of Netscape)
ALTERNATE viewing options
You may right-click on the image in any browser you are using, and save the .png file to your local machine. When done, you may use any graphics-editing software package to view, zoom, print, and review the graphic. "Microsoft Photo Editor" is free and comes with all versions of MS Windows after 98. You may also use programs such as Adobe Photoshop and MS Word to open the files.
Printing PNG files
Internet Explorer and Netscape will both print these files, compressed to one page. To print on more than one page, or on large-format printers, you will need to save the image to your local machine and open with a third-party software package (see above).
